Hello fellow pickers and pickettes. My name is Jeff and I’ve been playing the old 5 strung for a little over a year and a half now. We’ve got a bluegrass band that plays shows and does mostly originals. I’m less confident in my solo parts and kind of just wanted some advice on that. I know there aren’t any right or wrong ways but do you just kind of stay in the same key/chord that the other instruments are playing? I can do a lot of the banjo rolls and most chords up and down the neck but just rolling through chords up the neck seems a bit too easy. Or maybe like an easy out. Any advice is appreciated.
