Yes even at 76 this old dog is still learning new stuff. I am currently learning German. I was stationed with the British Army in Germany for five years back in the late 1960s early 70s and gained a very basic grasp of the German language which enabled me to order food, drink and find the rest room but little more than that I am ashamed to say. My eldest granddaughter is about to begin a new career as a modern language teacher French & Spanish. But as there is a shortage of German Language teachers in our area her first assignment will be to teach basic German to first year students. My granddaughter has no experience of the German language and is currently on a crash course which inspired me to revisit the topic. As of next week she will be supervising her first classes from Wednesday. So why is making mistakes is a good thing? Well if your like me you hate making mistakes and you want to correct them. In doing so you learn from your mistakes. So mistakes are not a BAD thing if you recognise the mistake and correct it.

That is great, Archie! I love languages and envy those who speak fluently in multiple languages. I’m currently in Finland but the dominant language is Swedish. It seems complicated, or should I say me lo parece complicado.
