I am thinking about trying to sing Petticoat Junction. First song. What roll or rolls, would you guys suggest? I know i can’t sing and play break at same time. Big step for me, has to be easy.
Singing with banjo
Standard forward reverse rolls would probably be easiest starting out. It’s definitely a skill that requires practice. That was one of the most impressive things about seeing the Purple Hull’s live… watching Katy play complicated licks while singing. I would have bowed down to her greatness, but my wife might have gotten the wrong impression.

I’d suggest vamping chords on the off-beat ( a la mandolin) while you sing when first starting…
Next, try adding fills between the singing.
Once that is all mastered maybe try rolling backup while singing…
