Secure access related

Don’t know why it redirected to this page but I got this message today. Maybe the connection is being compromised at my end??

This was when I was in banjobenclark.com and tried to click on to access the forum.

But backed out and could get a secure connection from https protocol.

I’ve seen this on other sites as well. Sometimes it really is an “invalid certificate,” which is a fancy way of saying some routine website maintenance was missed.
However, in other cases is a sneaky, third-party, intrusive fake pop-up ad designed to lure you into a fake computer service scam.
IMHO, your best bet is to notify the website operator or business office so they can pass it along to their IT people.

Hi @JohnM I think this is you’re computer firewall / security software that’s flagging the message.

When your browser visits a website it reads the website address which is proceeded with the letters HTTP or HTTPS

The S on the address is the key factor here. It means the page is secure, if it contains a wallet - a means by which you can make an online purchase.

Until websites started selling stuff online all websites used the HTTP flag.

Security software is designed to LOOK for this and Flag a warning. Sometimes the software misreads the HTTPS and flags the alert.

When this happens just refresh your browser. As @BanJoe says you’ll see this happen on other sites.

Should it continue just check the address bar on your browser does it start HTTP or HTTPS

Just remain alert and be aware there are fake sites out their trying to steal your info. Make sure your Firewall & Security Software is always up to date.

@BanJoe, @Archie, thanks for those thoughts! Maybe the click on the forum tab was too quick after the home page visit that the software could have misread it to a non-secure (http) access. The issue did not reoccur, so I think I’m fine now.
