Salmon Lake Park Disaster

Y’all might have heard, then again, you might not have.

The dam broke at Salmon Lake Park during a heavy rain storm earlier this week - on Memorial Day. Since it occurred in the early morning hours, I don’t think anyone was injured, but the dam, the water wheel and the road next to it and the main stage were either destroyed or damaged.

If you’ve been there, then you already know how special this place is. You probably already know that the owners are not only fans of great music (Bluegrass) but are really awesome people too. There’s more info on their website about the disaster and the families that own and operate this Bluegrass Destination.

If you can chip in to help them rebuild, there’s a gofundme set up here:

I was just there. Friday, the weather spat on us. Saturday, it was awesome! The sun was shining and there was a really nice breeze that kept the temp in the 70’s-low 80’s.

They have an annual Memorial Day Gospel Bluegrass show and it was, as usual, really good! I sure hope y’all can and will chip in a few bucks to help 'em out!

Grapeland is close to Crockett, my hometown. I used to know the former owners of Salmon Lake Park.
