Relative Speed - TablEdit?

Can anyone tell me/ explain what speed i.e. BPM in Relative Speed - TablEdit I am playing at 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% based on 4/4 timing?

How accurate is Relative Speed?

Hmmm, haven’t used it myself.

@Archie, what is the original speed in BPM? If it is 200 for instance, then the relative speed at 70% is 140 bpm. That is, the relative speed is 140 quarter beats in a 4/4 timing.
This answer seems obvious, so are you looking for something else?

P.S.: Say if it is a 1-minute original performance. With 70% relative speed, you would have only completed 70% of performance within the 1-minute. It would take an additional 0.43 min (= 1/140 * 60) to complete the performance at the relative speed of 70%.

Thanks @JohnM I guess I didn’t phrase my question properly. I should have said how accurate is the timing in TablEdit. i.e. If set at 100% is that 100 BPM?

Got it… But 100% is definitely not 100 BPM. The speed corresponding to 100% is the original speed. I don’t have a tabedit at my computer, the computer where I had it is down for sometime, so not sure where you will find the original speed BPM. It must show next to it when you set it to 100%?? or Under MIDI-options?? It has to have a speed setup by default somewhere for playback.

OK here is one place where you can find it… Under MIDI- Relative speed

The tempo value corresponding to 100% is the original BPM. In the screen shot it is 120 BPM. If you set the relative speed to 50%, you play it at 60 BPM, and it would take double the time to complete the song.

That said, the below adjustment applies if the increased speed is set.

That’s interesting, I have never used those features so it’s something to experiment with. I know from experience that @BanjoBen sets the tempo for his TABs. Some are slow whilst others run at a faster pace even though they are in 4/4 timing. Four quarter notes in each measure. So that is really where the focus of my query lies. How can I tell what the actual BPM are on any given TAB.

So to answer your question… It should default to 100% and show the actual tempo BPM somewhere at the top (or under MIDI-Relative speed and such options) on the TablEdit when you first open the tef file. If the default value of 100% is changed afterwards due to your settings change which is remembered, then to find out the original (or actual) BPM is to set the speed % value back to 100%. The tempo would now show the actual BPM.

Right so I just opened the TAB for Bury Me Beneath the Willow. At 100% the TEMPO is 210 now is that 210 BPM?
