Forum - Banjo Ben Clark

Proud Granddaddy

My granddaughters, Elise and Naleigh Kate, were born with birth defects that require check ups and periodic surgeries at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. They stayed at the Ronald McDonald House (a great charity by the way), and were pleasantly surprised by a baby grand piano in the atrium. I started my banjo journey about 5 years ago—mainly to encourage music interests in my grandchildren as their birth defects limit them physically. It has worked out (thanks @BanjoBen). Here are a couple clips of Elise (8 years old), playing the baby grand. She has started lessons this year, but these clips are her playing solely by ear—she’s amazing at imitating nearly anything she hears without ever seeing sheet music.

Feel free to skip this grandparent post. :slightly_smiling_face:Here’s a clip of Naleigh Kate practicing for her first voice recital. She and Elise are real troopers and it’s so inspiring to see them enjoying music. (See the beginning of this thread to understand their journey and our pride).
