@xmark I think its an age thing because I am the same way mine kills me if I do not have support against it
Of course broken ribs and broke back in the past probably does not help either

Hello all thanks for the interest in this project I have gone thru a tablet of paper drawing ideas and have three I plan to make proto types will keep you up to date.
My ātwo centsā worth: Great that you are thinking about this. I canāt tell you how many times a friend or family member asks me to pluck out a tune on the banjer, and then I get stuck sitting in a recliner with arm rests, or maybe a wooden rocking char, and then Iām inadvertently leaning back or bumping my elbows into the arm rests, or whatever - just very uncomfortable and pretty much makes it impossible to play decently.
Iāve looked online at drummer stools, but havenāt bought anything. So, I like to have my knees about level with or slightly lower than my hips, which puts the stool height at about 19 inches. I ALWAYS use a strap so the banjo is NOT resting on my legs (and sliding away), and by keeping the knees level or slightly below hips, my breathing is more open/easier. Absolutely no arm rests, of course (gotta keep those elbows clear). Not sure about a backrest - I suppose it would be good if it could come in close to your back and prevent you from slouching. Padded seat? Yeah, that would be nice. Underslung drawers - how cool is that. If I had such a thing, I would pretty much take it with me when traveling whenever possible.

My mama taught me to NOT to sling my underdrawers ā¦
thanks for the input Scottie most of us are looking for the same thing I had a situation that I wasnāt working on the project for a bit but Iām back and on it will keep all up to date
yea donāt want panties in a bunchā¦LOL:astonished:
I tend to use one of these when I play out; it makes you nearly standing height when you sit, it folds nearly flat, is quite sturdy, is made of wood and steel and has a convenient foot rest.
At home, I do like Ben and use an armless office chair with vertical adjustment. For me, I prefer a chair that I can take to a gig. The chair I listed has every thing I want except a place to hang my guitar during instrument changes or breaks. I have thought about attaching a guitar hanger to the back of the seat back.
morning all well I read all the post and drew a few pic so now going to start to pice together a stool will up date you as the build goes. Thanks for all the help.
