Poor Florida

I didn’t bring it up I merely responded. FYI, Not only is he not rejecting the aid …he will be asking for more. https://currently.att.yahoo.com/news/gov-ron-desantis-r-fl-131948364.html

@Michael_Mark…how are y’all doing?

Well, the good part is, we’ve been out of town. The bad part is, we’ve been out of town. :sweat_smile:
So we don’t think our house has any damage, but we did have a chimney cap blow off. Thankfully, a guy from church fastened a tarp over our roof for us. Our road is blocked off on both ends by trees though, there’s lots of trees down and I heard there’s a lot of flooding in other areas (flooding up to waist level, vehicles stranded, not fun). A couple of friends have had flooding in their property.
I think service must be mostly down for the people I’ve tried to correspond with- most texts aren’t going thru and calls are choppy. From what I’ve received back, though, they’re fine. Hopefully service and power gets restored soon.

Sorry about that!! Prayers for everyone affected. We’ve been out of town too so not sure how this is affecting Savannah!

Hopefully you are correct that the house has no damage. (It’s good to have friend with tarps). I understand the good/bad of being away, you sure don’t want to be in the middle of a storm but you want to know if you have problems too.

I know waiting for power is not a fun game but with down trees involved you really don’t know what to expect.

Y’all stay safe.

What happens in any such bills there is more to it than just relief, such as other things getting inserted into it and is presented as a package deal, then gets debated as what to leave in and pull out. My guess would be many pages long, with lot of legalese, with many line items. Would probably take a lot of reading. With people on different sides of the isle is hard to reach a consensus, so if there are additional unrelated items inserted that a member of the House or Senate deems unnecessary, they will vote against it. That’s fairly common.

Lot of times a house or senate member votes against a bill if they feel it gives the President, or some committee, governing body, or regulatory agency such as the EPA too much power. Other than that, bills are usually vague with hidden caveats, that can be manipulated. I could see logical reasons to vote against such a bill.

People will never agree on everything, but maybe we can all agree that we wish to see Florida get back on its feet soon. One way to bypass the political wrangling is for people to find a fund to their liking to donate to that goes directly for relief for the people who need it the most, and nothing else. Lot of such donation sites out there.
