"Playing" the Banjo

Nothing to see here. Just some old guy going free form and vamping on the old five string banjo.
I can justify it by saying -
a) I promised a video.
b) I’m trying out some new finger picks.

As the man said, “For your amusement.”

There is nothing better than playing the banjo  nice to see you play! :+1:

It takes a while to get used to new picks. Best way is to do what your doing and just noodle.

Enjoyed that @BanJoe I noticed that you have lots of Hummingbirds there. They seemed to enjoy your playing!

We do have many hummingbirds, although the males have already departed on their southward migration. We expect the females to leave any day now.

I’m not sure if they enjoy my playing or not. If they did, wouldn’t they sing? Instead, they just hum. Perhaps they don’t know the words.

After pondering, I’ve decided I like the ProPiks. They are very light and after a while I actually forgot I was wearing them.
The Sammy Shelor’s still seem to be a more comfortable fit, though.
I think I’ll be using the ProPiks on the hot, humid days I have fat fingers. Not many left this season, but they’ll be back & I’ll be ready!

Sounds good. Nothing better than “porch pickin” on a pretty day!

So now I know that… apparently, Hummingbirds do not fly “United”

Looks like you’ve drank the fiddle tune kool-aide. The banjo sounds good. One thing I noticed is that your anchor fingers are spread out on the head rather than being placed together. I don’t know if that is a problem or not but it seems like you might inadvertently mute a string.

The yard looks great, you guys in the northeast have it made (this time of year). Although I would expect a plate of sandwiches and pitcher of iced tea with a few lemon slices. Nothing like picking the banjo and having a little snack.

There’s a phrase that conjures up memories of old wall posters!

So far no issue with my anchor fingers muting a string. If I kept them together I don’t think my pinky would reach the banjo head!
