Playing a song in the Key of F

Hi All

Im trying to create a banjo part for a song in the key of F and the verse drones from Dm to C

The chorus is F C/F C/Am Dm/Am Dm/Bb/A

Should i be playing in open G or using a capo out of either C D

Thanks

I would tune down a whole step to open F, but that’s just what I would do

Well, I don’t know about the melody or the verse but that particular group of chords plays very well in open G. The fifth string G can work with all those chords (being a 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th of any of those chords).

In the latest issue of Banjo Newsletter there is a great tune in the key of F by Bill Evans called Road to Ruidoso.
