Perspectives on the Beginner Banjo Track

I’m a guitar player who began banjo on October 16, 2025. I’ve been to 7 Cabin Camps for guitar and I wanted to share my perspectives after going through the Banjo Beginner track once. It took 120 hours over 120 days.

I’m happy where I am with the mechanics including picks, rolls, knowing where the strings are without looking, posture and timing.

Where I need to go back to repeat lessons is all related to the fretboard. I don’t know chords well enough and where they are up the neck.

Here are the lessons I feel I need to repeat before moving on to intermediate:

Basic Major Chords
Back-up chords and drills
Getting Up the Neck with BlackberryBlossom

My goal is to get to the point where it would be profitable to attend a banjo Cabin Camps for guitar in October so I can get the most out of it.

Thanks for the lessons Ben. I wouldn’t have come this far without them!

Hi @Rob_coughlin Robert I would like to suggest you look at these BANJO courses. They may still be above your skill level but they will help you with your chord positions and how to better navigate the fretboard.

Thanks Archie! I appreciate it. After my “go backs” I’ll be starting the Intermediate track anyway so I’ll definitely look at those first.
