New to This Type of Learning...Site Guidence where to start?

Hey all,
Just joined after considering for 2 years and after attending "Cabin Camp Florida at Doc’s a while back. Glad to be here now. Been playing about 10 months with a teacher… (Guitarist of 6 years) The BIG question I am wondering is…Already knowing how to play CC, Cumberland Gap, Sally Ann and Foggy MT. Breakdown where would you suggest I start my lessons journey here as a BB Clark student? Section? category?
Thanking you in advance for your time and attention.

Hi @sideshow Jeff. welcome to @BanjoBen 's Forum. I tend to encourage all newcomers to the website to work through the Beginners Banjo Learning Track. There you will find all the fundamentals you need to progress into the more advanced sections. Since you have been playing a while chances are you will have a good grasp of most of the fundamentals. Since no two teachers have the same teaching approach you’ll gain a lot from studying Ben’s teaching method at the basic level which will be beneficial later on. Work through the lessons at your own pace.

When you feel ready post a video of your practice session in the Video Swap area and Ben will respond. For this you’ll need to create a video and upload it to You Tube, Google or some other video storage site, copy and paste the video URL in the Video Swap area for this you will need to create a NEW TOPIC and your good to go

Where to start. Look at the top of your screen and click on Banjo and select Beginners Banjo Learning Track.

Open a lesson, watch the preview, below the preview video scroll down to find the rest of the lesson. To the right of your screen you’ll find TABs in PDF and TEF format and below the TABs you’ll find the MP3 Backing tracks.

Check out the video’s below

If you come unstuck holler and someone will respond.

Howdy Jeff! Good to see you here, friend!

It’s not really about the songs you know how to play, but how you play them and your fundamentals. Consider taking one of those songs you know well and recording a video, then uploading to the Video Swap category. I can watch you play and recommend where to go from there. Make sure and catch both hands in the video frame!

Hi Archie,
Sunday Blessings to you and all. I am not able to post my, desktop saved, Videos of my playing, due to their size. What is the best way to get them here? Not a big IT person so not sure what saving them to a Cloud would be like. Any suggestions??
TY so, so much.

Hi Jeff.

You can’t post videos direct to the site as you have discovered.

I found it best uploading my videos to YouTube, copy and pasting the link on the Video Swap area.

You’ll need to create a YouTube Channel it’s fairly straightforward as I recall.

Once you have your video uploaded to YouTube just below the video your see the SHARE Button. Click on it and then click on the COPY button. Create a NEW TOPIC in the Video Swap Area and paste the link. Ctrl +V on a PC.

Good Luck

LOL,yes Luck I will need. Gave 2 posts a try. Hope they work. So far the hardest thing about Banjo over the last 8 months has been dealing with the Tech side of things and it is an acoustic instrument!! Go figure. LOL
