Forum - Banjo Ben Clark

New here! Hey everyone :)

Whats up guys! Just wanted to introduce myself so I dont feel like as much of a lurker. I just joined and purchased my first month of lessons to learn Mandolin and improve my guitar playing.

I have a Gold Tone GM-35 mandolin and a Seagull S6 Acoustic (several electrics but you may not be as interested in them lol)

Really want to be able to improve my fretting and technique on mandolin as well as be able to map the fretboard and improvise effectively

Looking forward to growing my skills with you folks, together.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Everyone here seems really nice. I’ll be sure to share some clips and media with you guys soon enough

I’m 26 and decided to pick up the mandolin because i’ve always liked folk music and the simplicity of making music in a band setting with only acoustic instruments. No pedals, effects or amps if you choose. Just fingers and wood instruments. It would be nice to tailgate with the mandolin and make music with people I meet at festivals and other venues. And maybe one day have a 4 piece jam band.

I found Banjo Ben via YouTube and was really surprised with his talent and experience as a musician. Thank you all!

Welcome on board, glad to have you here. I’d like to know more about your electric instruments; sometimes that tells you more about a player than their acoustic ones.

Nice looking guitars. I’ve always been a fan of the Les Paul (and have owned a couple in my life, a Black Beauty and a Gold Top), but then I am not a fan of the weight. Still, real nice looking guitars! I don’t have many electrics these days, just 3 very different ones:

Left to right:
Hohner “Steinberger” Fretless bass, Casio PG380 Digital Guitar, Ibanez RS 135, Jay Turser JT134 Quilt semi-hollowbody.
As with all my guitars, they tend to be tools to use in specific situations rather being top of the line or collectable. Lots of fun to play though.

The weight is where that beautiful tone gets its magic, vibrating through the body . Everyone has there preference though. I get how weight can be a big factor. Thats why I have the super-strat haha. They’re all great guitars though with many different personalities and uses for specific scenarios. I couldn’t be happier.

Really like that hollow-body you have there. I’ve seen some impressive Jay Turser models. Always liked those tail-pieces as well. Really nice setup!
