Hi Ben et. al.,
I’m really enjoying the lessons! I have a few ideas of things I’d like to work on, and would love some lessons on these topics.
-
Closed Positions and transitions: Often I find myself playing along or in a non-bluegrass situation (like worship music) where I need to play in keys that aren’t Open G. And I don’t really have the time to capo (also I don’t really like capo-ing, other than the 5th string). So I’d love some lessons on how to work closed positions and find cool transitions between chord changes within a closed framework. Like playing in Eb or something like that.
-
Minor Sounds in standard tuning. Similar to above, I want to be able to easily switch to minor progressions (which I’m not very good at and need to learn much better) in standard tuning.
-
More Blues lessons. And using the banjo in non-bluegrass contexts (like rock, jazz, blues, etc).
-
Scale Work – finding good patterns for pentatonic (major/minor), blues, etc. And learning how to build patterns for rolling various scale patterns like triplets or quads (like G A B, A B C, B C D) that can be used for runs and transitions.
Thanks very much for your hard work and great lessons.
Cheers!
