Well, 2022 is wrapping up as a record-setting travel year. My wife and I, both retired, did a LOT of travel this year….I a little more than she…including 73 days in Europe. We just returned from 3 1/2 weeks in Aruba where, once again, I did not bring my mandolin. When I got back Sunday night I a) made sure they (I have two) were still home and b) told them I’ll play soon.
Yesterday I sat down to get started and whoa…was I rusty! Yikes! Ah well, I’ll get back into it slowly…I played a bit today and my fingers are tender…but it’s a good tender. We are home for 5 weeks before we take off for another 5 weeks…this time to New Zealand. Gonna hafta leave the mandolin behind again…but we have a slightly less active travel plan for 2023. I love to travel but I also love to play mandolin. I guess it’s all a balance.
