Memorial Day in the US

Today is the day we in the US remember anyone who died in wartime performing military service.

The National Moment of Remembrance is an annual event that asks Americans, wherever they are at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to pause for a duration of one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States.

For whatever reason, Memorial Day was way heavier for me this year. May it never be light.

Now that we’re living back in Small Town USA we took the kids to a Memorial Day service at the Veteran’s Park down near the ballfields. We listened to an old man recite Cash’s “Ragged Old Flag” and the Trail Life troop present the colors. A beautiful morning.
