Mandolin string height / bridge

The height on my strings seems okay for the first 5 frets then seems to get higher than it should from the 7th fret. I can still play it okay but if I could lower the strings a little the action would be nicer. My bridge is adjusted as low as it can go. Do you think if I change the bridge that would help to lower the strings. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Annie, replacing your bridge with one that can go lower might work. Getting a good set up can be fiddly and fraught with trouble, though. If you have access to a qualified repair shop, that might be a better option. It might cost a bit, but the probability of a good outcome will likely be higher.

A new bridge could work but sounds like perhaps a trussrod adjustment is in order.

Do you have any tips for adjusting the truss rod on the mandolin.

Not yet but I’ll make a lesson for that!
