Mando strap slippage question

Hey Y’all,

I got my first Mando from the BB store and it came with a new strap. I’m having some issues where the strap meets the post/buckle/fasterner thingy. The strap occasionally slips off the post and loosens while I’m playing. Any tips or homegrown solutions for making sure the strap holes stay put on the post? Thanks for your help!

Dave

Thanks for your support of the store, @DSoleil!

What do you mean by post? The endpin?

Hi Dave!
Maybe a picture of how you have it hooked up could help with diagnosing the issue.

Here are pictures. It’s the buckle thing half-way up the strap. I try to push the leather strap and hole over the post. It holds for a few songs, but I think, because the leather is new, it isn’t broken in yet. Any thoughts are welcome! I also want to be clear. It’s not a product defect. I think it’s just a new strap/stiff leather issue.

Is the hole you’re using the same size as the rest of them?

Looks like it needs to seat farther down on the pin.

Weird buckle.

I’d waller that hole out a bit with a little screwdriver or awl.

I smashed it on there good and also manhandled the leather to soften it up a bit. Hopefully that will help. Thanks for the advice!

Think I found a working solution on this! You know them rubber gommets to silence the mando strings? Perfect fit!
