Let's have fun with "Cripple Creek"

Howdy fellow pickers, well we all would love to play like Earl, but till we get there a tune that every 5-string picker learns as a beginner and adds to thru the rest of their playing days is “Cripple Creek” from Grandpa on the porch to Roy Clark on Hee Haw (with all the girls around him lol) what I would like is to enter videos of each of us playing Cripple Creek use any version you like or add two or more articles, or all you whatever you like . a signal a duo or a full blue grass band as long as it you. this is for beginners, intermediate and advance players no judging of any kind productive advice yes. I am a beginner and will be posting so beginners join in. Also, you find a member’s version what you like contact them and get help learning a new lick. I hope BanjoBen will join in love to hear his favorite version. I will be submitting my video by Monday. Let’s have some fun. God Bless

160 bpm I just put new strings on late Friday, a heavier gauge, so I’m just now trying them out. It may not be pretty, but it is “Fun With Cripple Creek!”

Look for it in Video Swap.

Great Banjoe I am running behind a long story short I am in need of work/job Thursday I was told about a number of openings so spent Friday and the weekend writing resumes for them of course no two could use the same resume. Tried to get a practice and recording in I couldn’t get through the leadin at 66 and looking for a job lol never thought I would be here. But I’ve got an interview this morning and two more jobs to apply for and resumes to prepare I will try to have the recording submitted this week this was my idea and I droped the ball I’m very sorry.

My grandfather drilled into his children & my parents drilled it into me & I drilled it into my kids- “First things first.”
Unless your resumes are going to the Wheeling Jamboree or the Grand Ol Opry, I would say
“Fun With Cripple Creek” can wait while you take care of first things first.
Good luck!

I’ve always been amazed at how such a small island could produce so many of such high character & caliber……
….except Harry. What a wanker!

thanks Banjoe :grinning:

You think? He is the one I admire most. What he had to endure during his military service earns him my highest respect. The others in his family played at soldiering he did the job.

my first four years were in the US Army Infantry (I was a grunt) and stationed in Berlin Germany as a member of the Berlin Brigade and we trained and cross trained with the British Units stationed there. When I was there 1974-1978 the city was still occupied so in west berlin it was Franch, British, and US East Berlin was occupied by Russia. we worked with and trained with both Franch and British. and during that time my unit the 3nd Battalion / 6th Infantry we cross the English Channel and cross trained in England we were the first U.S. battalion size unit to land in England since WW 2.

Are we talking about the same guy? I don’t follow the royals all that much, but isn’t he the one who married Meghan, ditched the monarchy and is now writing a book to dish dirt on the family?

Yes we are!

Like politics the Royals have their own issues. But I don’t really want to go there.

I served in West Germany from 1968 - 1975 Herford then Dortmund - Whilst in Dortmund we linked up with 8th Signal Battalion 8th Infantry Division Bad Kreuznach - Did some fitness training, Sport Baseball - they beat us. Soccer we beat them - Some Range work - They found our rifles SLR way too heavy - I fell on my arse firing a Colt 45 Automatic Pistol what a punch that thing had Our officers were issued with Browning 9mm Pistols, it was like shooting a cap gun by comparison. I think scores came out fairly equal. Lot’s of socialising. I left the Unit shortly after my return to attend a Trade Training Course in the UK. The Unit went on to do a lot of other training with the Battalion including joint communications exercises and a joint team at the Nijmegen Marches in Holland.

when we went England, we stayed and trained on the Bradford training area

Not familiar with that one @Sailor The UK probably has hundreds of training areas. Anywhere it’s cold and wet you can be sure there is a military training area close by.
