Hey all! Still working through the beginner checklist. My question is, after learning a new song, like tabs for Old Joe Clark, am I suppose to play these songs everyday to remember them all or what? Or will I just remember them once etched into my brain. Any advice on how to go about this is much appreciated! I currently spend a lot of time to learn a song and really don’t want to forget them!

Way to go, @Jae! I don’t think you need to stress about it. You’ll remember them if you go back weekly and play them. Really try to concentrate on learning the song’s melody rather than remembering every single note of the tab. You’ll get to a point where you can’t remember the tabbed solos of these songs you’re learning, but you will be able to remember the melody (or at least be quickly reminded of it).
Once you really internalize a melody (which you know if you can hum or sing it), it won’t leave you easily.

Hi @Jae to add to what @BanjoBen said. When you are working through these lessons your brain is keeping track of what you’ve learned. It stores that info in your long term memory, through time and practice you will internalise this information.
Ben’s lessons are a series of building blocks, you are using the same licks, roll patterns and embellishment’s over and over again in different tunes and combinations. After a while and as you gain experience once you start playing through a melody your brain will recall these phrases and you will quickly discover they FIT right in with what you are playing as if by magic.
There is no need to play these tunes every day but try to revisit them at least once a week in your first year. Remember your not just practicing the tunes but also the skills like the slides, pull-offs and hammer-on’s you learned during these lessons. The more you practice these the more knowledgeable and skilful you’ll become

Awesome! Thanks guys! I am having so much fun learning all of this. This program is laid out in a way that I can learn what I thought was toooooo impossible! Haha. Day one I was thinking there is absolutely no way I can do this. Each day seems to continue to surprise me, some days a little progress and then other days it like a lightbulb goes off and I just play it like I have always done this. Thanks for the encouragement!
