Took the whole family to see Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder in Sellersville, Pennsylvania on Sunday. Ricky is apparently unstoppable in his 70th year. The whole band was in top form, as usual, even though this was their 5th show of the weekend and their second show of the day. Jake Workman on guitar and Billy Contreras on fiddle were beyond belief. Where else can you hear Vivaldi at a bluegrass show?
Kentucky Thunder show in PA
That’s super cool! My favorite of Ricky’s is one of his older ones, I’m Just A Country Boy. If I guess correctly, @Flatpickin_Libby will have something to say about Jake,
They performed a bluegrass version of Highway 40 Blues. If I remember right, they did “Country Boy” at their show in Alexandria last January.
You have caught on quickly around here, I see.
I sure have Mr. Tony Rice
@BluegrassAddict nice to meet you too.
I’m sure that was a crazy good show as always!! Jake and Billy are always trying to outdo each other on stage
And the result? MAGIC! The only drawback was that I went home wanting to put away my guitar and banjo and focus on the mando for a while. Or was it to focus on guitar and forget the other two? I can’t stop switching. I like them all just too much.
