This is the follow up Q&A to the Jens Kruger Masterclass Ep3 lesson I posted earlier. A few of us found it a lot to take in maybe you’ll find some answers here.
Jens Kruger Masterclass Ep3 Q&A
As usual, it was a highly informative, entertaining hour. Time well spent.
I did notice one strong similarity between Jens & Ben. They both emphasize the necessity of having fun with the banjo.
If they both are so adamant about it, it must be a serious point!
I found so much of his content (and even the questions) to be way over my head. But my take away was to explore chords and listen. Alan Munde said similar suggestions in his fretboard geography lessons.
Same here. Way over my head, but that’s OK. It’s an old truism that if you want to do anything, hang around with people who are really good at it. Doesn’t matter if it’s farming, writing software or playing banjo.
“If you’re the best musician in the band, you’ll never get any better.”
Admittedly, I am weak on the vocabulary. “Diminished chords” and “7th” are beyond me.
On Saturday nights, the fifth is in front of me, which generally leads to me being diminished.
You’re right. It makes us strive for better. I liked when he said you don’t have to understand theory to play music. But I must have been that kid who drove my parents wild with “why?, why?..” I like to know the reason I’m doing something.
Why?
