Hi,
I’m a beginner banjo player. I’m a little overwhelmed with the navigation of this wonderful course. Please can someone point me in the right direction of where to start? I have completed the rolls course but just don’t know where to go next.
Many thanks.
Sarah
I'm lost
Hey Sarah (@mspud68), welcome to the forum. Ben set up beginner, intermediate, and advanced learning tracks that you can reach by going to the banjo lessons and scrolling down until you see those links. Here’s the link for the beginner track:
https://banjobenclark.com/university/beginner-banjo
It starts with quite a few foundational lessons (music theory, banjo setup, etc), that you can watch at your leisure. I’d recommend skipping to the roll studies to begin your actual practice lessons (some of which you’ve already completed) and just progress through the checklist marking them completed as you go.
I’m sure you’ll get more good advice here, but the checklist is a good start to help you find your way. Enjoy the journey.
Hi @mspud68 Sarah
to @BanjoBen 's Forum. Yes the website can be a bit overwhelming to a newcomer but I keep hearing @Michael_Mark will have the NEW WEBSITE up and running soon which I understand navigation is much simpler.
I see @JKL Jeff Little has pointed you in the direction of the beginners section. If you work through the lessons at your own pace you’ll find that each lesson builds on the next. Since you have completed the rolls course the next logical step is the Fret Hand Techniques in this section you will learn how to play slides, hammer’ons pulloffs and other skills.
If you get stuck just hollier and we will do our best to help. When you feel ready post a video in the Video Swap area and Ben will give you some pointers moving forward.
Beginner learning track is the way to go @mspud68! Let us know if you have more questions, and welcome!
