Ibanez B200

Anyone else have an Ibanez B200. I’m still very much a beginner. I have been spending most of my time on the mandolin. I have an Ibanez B200 and love it. I would like some better tuners on it though. I would love to hear someone post a video playing theirs. I’d love to hear what one sounds like in the hands of someone more qualified than myself.

I don’t own an Ibanez B200, but I actually played one in a music store I visited about a month ago while traveling. I thought it sounded good and could sound great with a good set up. It had a nice feel. Both of my primary banjos are intermediate level. I play a 70’s Alvarez Denver Belle, and a Fender FB 58. I bought the fender years ago in Monterey California for 400 dollars and never liked the sound. I stuck it in my camper and only played it when camping. The Denver Belle was my go to banjo. Last year I sold my camper and was going to sell the Fender. I decided to give it a good set up. I tightened the head, adjusted the action, and replaced a tuner that was slipping. To my surprise, it plays and sounds great! I think a good player can make any banjo sound good, but for us intermediate level players, good set up is critical for a good sound and smooth playing. Just my thoughts.

I just installed geared Gotoh tuners on my Deering banjo. They are great.

I do a little bit of thrift store shopping, and a while back I found a few bags full of luthier parts. I paid two dollars for the bags, and when I got home I found that they had a few nice banjo tuners (not sure the brand) in there. I used one to replace the broken one on my Fender FB 58.

The bag also had tail pieces, a few bridges, and a bunch of old guitar parts. I went back to the thrift store and asked if they had any more and found one more bag. They told me they almost threw the stuff out! One person’s treasure is another’s trash! :joy:
