I just attended the Doc Watson MusicFest in Sugar Grove (30min from my house), and I competed in the Terry Baucom memorial contest. It was a lot of fun, and I got second!!!
I played Alan Munde’s arrangement of Lonesome Road Blues.
I got second place in the banjo contest!

Well done! That takes skill, poise, confidence and a willingness to let go of your ego. Congratulations!
I see where my favorite banjo player, Jen Kruger, was one of the acts at the event.
As as struggling artist, I would not have the nerve to enter such a contest, as I’m certain the judges just don’t understand my music.
