I Broke My Blue Chip JD Crowe Thumb Pick!

Several years ago I purchased a Blue Chip JD Crowe thumbpick from the General Store. That was when I was young & foolish & thought $40 grew on trees.
I wish I had paid closer attention to the description when I bought it, especially the part that says “but great care has to be taken so that the plastic blade isn’t pressed against or used as a fulcrum. It will break.”
Yesterday I tried to use my Blue Chip as a fulcrum to open the battery case on my Snark tuner. The blade broke.
NOTE TO NEWBIES: Don’t do what I did. While the Blue Chip is worth the price, $40, it turns out, does not grow on trees.

I recently bought a new car &, of course, it came with Sirius XM satellite radio. I spent the trial period listening to “Bluegrass Junction.” I decided I didn’t like it. It’s a Top 40 format in the bluegrass genre. I ended up hearing the same songs repeatedly. Being a retired broadcaster, I know why that happens & how it really is a good thing for Sirius. And beneficial to the new artists lucky enough to get played. But it does get boring on a long drive.
Now I discover that Kyle Cantrell was fired by SiriusXM a few years back and he’s running an internet music stream called Banjo Radio. (banjoradio.com)
I put the app on my phone & listened to it on an interstate trip this past week.
It’s pretty good! Excellent selection of music, nice mix of current stuff and not afraid to go into some of the deep cuts.
And it’s cheaper than SiriusXM, depending on your cell phone data plan.

I’m struggling to play/practice more, but other obligations keep popping up. There are days I wish we were still on pandemic lockdown.

Adios, mi amigos! Viya con Dios!
(Wait. Is that ICE beating down my door!?!)

You might try one of these next time @BanJoe don’t cost as much as a Blue Chip, works well as a fulcrum but not too practical for pickin banjer
