I can’t remember where I saw it reently, but it defined “musician” as someone who can play at least one song all the way through without a mistake AND in time.
OK, I can do that.
But the real earmark of a musician is “Can they play stuff they don’t like?”
I have finally reached the point where I am working on a song I don’t like. The reasons make as much sense as putting plastic wrap on an umbrella so it doesn’t get wet. We all have songs we don’t like, for one reason or another.
I am learning this song because it contains elements I will want to play in songs love. Fair enough.
But I wish the darn song wouldn’t get stuck in my head so much! (Even if that does help me play it better!)
