Just got a new banjo about 2 months ago and want to keep the frost on the head. Yeah, yeah, I know, badge of honor and all that, but I like the new/frosty look. Any way to keep it from wearing off?

There is no shame in having a banjo that looks like this.
I guess you could put something on it like clear packing tape, but that might look worse to you than the wear it would prevent. In my limited experience with just one banjo the head is amazingly resilient. I think the easiest thing to do is use it without worrying about it and when it wears to a point that bothers you, get a new head. Heads are relatively inexpensive.

You could go with a natural material like goat skin. That’s usually more of a claw hammer thing.
