Man, this guy really hates guitars. I wonder what he would have done with banjos?
How the airlines treat your guitars
Doesn’t surprise me. I only flew once with a guitar that I bought for my son while on a business trip. I carried it on and put it in the overhead rack. That was a lot of guitars! Must have been a whole band!
This actually reminds me of another unrelated incident……several years ago I was flying to Reno from Las Vegas and waiting for my flight in the airport. I saw a guy with a banjo case standing in the boarding area. Eventually, I walked over and commented about his banjo. He was very nice and opened the case and let me play his banjo a little there in the airport. Then finally he asked me if I wanted to see his show. He was evidently, one of the Kingston Trio players! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make the show due to my work schedule, but the guy was really cool.
Most folks know about this, but for those who have missed it, check Youtube or Google “United Breaks Guitars”. It’s a fascinating story from the business world about the result of heav-handed executives ignoring legitimate customer complaints about mistreatment of guitars. Don’t miss it!
