Lately I’ve been working on a bunch on Irish tunes in addition to trying to learn BG…
I’ve found a somewhat local (within an hour’s drive) gal to pick the Irish with, which, believe it or not is somewhat difficult to find around this area. She picks tenor banjo. I don’t have any recordings of her and I, so this recording will have to do… 
I’m picking both melody & backup in this video, it is in the key of Dm, hope yall enjoy:

Simone, I drug you into this ear work and stuff. I probably owe you a few posts…
So, here’s one I sat down and worked on.
Was looking for a good song where I could “fly solo” and possibly come out with a good song to sing around a campfire or front porch.
Was really trying to work on my ear with vocals and picking.
That last little lead break…
Oh, no I don’t know the fiddle part…so I just “winged it” with some improv.
Love a good story? I come from “coal country”…this has been sung 100s of 1000s of times over many generations.

Hey, @Simone, that sounded fantastic! Let me know what you’re working on and I’ll see if I have it—I bought a Celtic book of tabs a couple years ago and never learned any of them. I’d really like getting back together for some music sessions.
