Handsome Molly in D

Hi,

I have a click track with my vocals and basic guitar if some folks want to jump in. There are 4 solo slots. So each instrument would do all the rhythm (assuming there aren’t 4 banjos , if there are multiple instruments of one kind I can split the rhythm playing in processing), and then each soloist will do tasty fills on the verse/chorus before their break. Tempo is moderate at 85 bpm.

If anyone wants to do vocal harmony, I am happy to take my harmony out. It will sound awesome with a mix of voices anyway.

You would need to be able to listen to the track on earphones, and play along and record your part in a quiet environment and have reasonably good sound quality on the recording. I don’t really care if its high quality MP3 or WAV as long as it sounds good! Please don’t add reverb, etc. as my setup will add it on the raw tracks.

Anyone want to play? Mando, dobro, bass, banjo whatever acoustic u got in the bluegrass tradition. Capo’d up guitar w/ a solo would be great, too!

Cheers,
Michelle

Hi Michelle, with mandolin, I will give it a go, rhythm, will try a break, maybe a fill or two, and also I will offer a vocal harmony, probably tenor. If you get lots of mandolin volunteers I will be happy to defer to others.

Please, y’all, jump in. Here’s a link to a track with fundamental guitar playing and vocal melody.

Intro is a count in, then |5|5|4|1| (basically a tag).

Format is verse/chorus/solo for 4 verses, last chorus is repeated and then chords are held 4 bars for (hopefully!) someone playing a nice little outtro.

If anyone wants to check it out to see if they’d like to chip in, here’s the link.

@BanjoBen - question - when I made a scratch track, I made a really basic guitar track w/ minimal walkups & embellishments. Is it more helpful to do it this way or more helpful to put out a more fleshed out guitar track for other contributors to adjust to?

Trying to balance offering structure vs potentially stepping on other folk’s fill ideas.

Cheers,
Michelle

I know I find it easier to find the melody when the backups play more fleshed out stuff!

My opinion is to go simple, yep. Sorry for the delay…have been traveling!
