Does the extended stretch on a hammer-on have to be played directly above the fret?
Mine seem to be clear & distinct even if played in the center of the fret.

You’ll want to do both notes of a hammer-on like fretting any other note, right behind the fret but not on top of the fret.

My hammer-ons arrive in the centre of the fret. I have short stubby fingers. Some banjo players like Casey Henry have an amazing stretch. You gotta work with what the good Lord gave you.

Amen my friend. I knew there had to be someone out there with the same finger constraints.
And BTW … the hammer-ons DO sound just as great in the center of the fret if you have a
quality banjo
