Guitar Picks

I’m buying some new picks I was wondering if (.78mm ) thickness is a good size for good tone and pick control. Don’t know too much about different picks.

We usually recommend something at least 1mm in thickness for bluegrass. It’s hard to know what you like without trying several different types, but the General Store has lots of good options for sale at a low price. I would recommend maybe trying a couple in different shapes (teardrop/triangle/round), sizes (small/med/large), and thicknesses (1mm, 1.2-5, 1.5 and up):

There are several guitar pick selection videos in the Beginner Guitar track.

This is a good one…

I personally find that the stiffness of a thicker pick has helped me. I moved from playing .60-.78 picks to a 1.0mm with positive results in flat picking.
