Great TV

Wouldn’t it be nice if Hollywood made TV shows like this again. It was the appearance of Earl Scruggs on the Beverly Hillbillies that got me interested in learning the banjo and thanks to my mom and dad who invested $500 on my first banjo - a Vega - back around 1975-76.

That’s awesome that your parents got you that Vega. Do you still have it?

I was surprised to see the compilation didn’t include “Pearl, Pearl, Pearl.”
Jed’s cousin Pearl was Jethro’s mother.

Growing up I watched the Beverly Hillbillies on TV. I had a big crush on Elle May (Donna Douglas)

I’ve got ALL the Flatt & Scruggs - Martha White DVDs - I think the Beverly Hillbillies may be out on DVD too

@Mike_R I wish I did… ended up selling it in my early twenties to help pay the bills

~sigh~ I feel your pain. I just took my first job in a town far, far away and waaaay back in the day. I had to hock my first banjo in order to eat. I owned it for about a six weeks. Never leaned one roll on it & never got it back. Those were lean times for a struggling young man. That’s when I learned the difference between knowing “Life’s not fair” and truly understanding what that means!
