Last Friday we got to get out ( ! ) and see some local bluegrass ( !! ) It was a fun nite for sure. These guys “Grassology” are a riot & so enjoy what they do. It’s a group of friends who got together just for this performance, impromptu style. (They all have their own bands.) Last minute, the bass player couldn’t make it, and another friend filled the spot. The youngest guy (19 years old - Luke Black) had actually just gotten home (Thanksgiving break) from being at college in Massachusetts & came over to the venue. (He was a guitar student of Allen Tolbert.) From left to right: Luke Black guitar, Ken Bearden bass, Roman Locklear dobro, Allen Tolbert guitar/mando & Kevin Atkins banjo/guitar. The good news is some of them & their bands will be back next Friday nite doing a show, “A Bluegrass Christmas” benefitting Toys for Tots. Admission is a new unwrapped toy. I think that’s awesome!
