Got Snow?

So I’m sitting in the middle of the nor’easter that’s dumping on the NE. It’s a very heavy, wet snow…more like slush than snow. My snowblower doesn’t like it.
Out West they call this stuff “Sierra Concrete.”
My daughter works at Yosemite, but lives in the foothills, so she’s been getting the brunt of all the rain & snowmelt So far so good, but the rain isn’t finished yet.

I tried to pick up my banjo today after clearing the driveway for the 4th time. My arms were so weak! Maybe I should take up the mandolin.
(Nah. Mandos just don’t have “that sound!”)

Anyone else enjoying Mother Nature’s bounty?

All I can do is mutter to myself, “One day closer to spring.”

The cool weather is hanging on here in the Mid-Atlantic. Nice & mild today, but certainly not close enough to start the vegetable garden. It’s close though. We’re starting to get those days that tease you.

I just came in from clearing about a foot of that concrete! It is definitely the worst kind of snow for shoveling. My picking hand got a bit of a workout operating the loader valve on my tractor.

My picking hand has to work the auger on my snowblower.
I wish some genius would invent snow removal equipment that takes the needs of musicians into consideration!

That sounds miserable.

We’re on our way to Withlacoochee, FL. 39 degrees F, dry and clear, and I think that’s cold!

How funny! Florida always sounds miserable to me. Hurricanes, tornadoes, tropical downpours, a brazillion bugs, snakes, alligators, giant snakes, oppressive humidity and nothing but flat, flat, flat scenery. None of these things will ever go away.
But the snow does!

I shout hallelujahs when it gets below 70 here. Those 4 months don’t last for long, folks!

Don’t forget the large population of New Yorkers!

Don’t worry, they will go away too.

Here’s a couple of musician-friendly methods for snow removal equipment…

I’ll take the one on top. (Actually, the village I live in has a couple of them. They are used to eat the snowbanks created by the snowplows, not remove snow from the roads. The snow comes out the black chute at the top & is fed into a dump truck. It can fill a very big truck in about 15 seconds.)

The one on the bottom is too expensive. And when it gets older, it doesn’t always work the way you want it to!

I’m thankful you’re on the forum, you make me laugh regularly.

That’s the most polite way I’ve ever heard to tell me I need more banjo practice.

You’ve got to be pretty good if he is laughing and not crying.
