Golden Gate Thumb Picks

I have been using National thumb picks, however they do not seem to last that long so I am trying out the Golden Gate thumb picks. The pick feels smooth, however, I get a buzzing sound sometimes with the pick. Anyone else? Any suggestions on how to get rid of the buzz/

Do you mean a buzz as you are picking the string, or a buzz that happens after you pick it? If the latter, it’s not caused by the pick, unless you are accidentally resting the pick on the string after picking it. I’d check the nut and bridge slots, as well as the action.

Your pick is most likely not the cause of the buzzing or I’m sure Noam wouldn’t use a golden gate thumpick! Maybe it is a thicker blade than you had before which plays the string harder and causes it to buzz because there maybe were setup issues that weren’t apparent before?

I know when I play with new Golden Gate there’s a bit of a “grind” sound at first even though the pick feels smooth, but it’s nothing that a little practice time to wear it off won’t fix. Not sure if this could be the buzzing sound you are referring to but I just though I’d mention it. Happy picking!

buzzing from a thumb-pick can come from approaching a still-moving string too slowly…
