God's garden needs YOUR help

Can you just imagine what the world will be like when all these trees are gone.

YOU can help save them by gathering up some seeds and planting them in a new locations. Teach your children to appreciate the value our natural forests and the diversity of flora and fauna that helps the planet breath.

I maybe getting old and krankie but it really angers me to see these ancient forests destroyed and replaced with mono culture plantations all in straight lines. It is unlikely that I will ever visit these forests but I really do care what happens to them. If you have space in your garden then please plant a tree this fall/winter. NO I don’t mean a giant redwood unless of course you have the space.

Sadly much of the timber felled from these trees ends up as fire wood or chopping boards How sad is that.

And lets not forget thousands of natural trees are felled to make way to build yet another golf course as if the world doesn’t have enough golf courses already.

Scotland is hosting this years round of climate change talks. I wonder what they are gonna talk about doing this year. One thing is for sure I am getting another green plastic trash bin from my local council to add to the other three bins I have. Black, Brown & Blue which means they are doing nothing to reduce waste only create more. So we all think we are helping to save the planet by put trash in different bins but in the end all the trash ends up in the oceans and land fill. You know when I was a kid we never had a waste management problem. We have the Supermarkets - Oil, Gas and Plastics industry to thank for our waste.

Weren’t burn barrels great, and I’ll also tell you that if you dont cut out your dead dying and sick trees you end up with disease, and Beatle kill which results in all of your trees dead which results in forest fire which results in no trees at all, so please clean up your forest and they replant themselves, it’s what God wanted us to do in the first place; steward the land. I live in the forest and am a arborist, logger, and mill Sawyer and with thinning and removing all of the brush, the forest is thriving beyond belief, the new growth is astounding and little trees are showing up. And I can tell you why people won’t do this simple act of cleaning up, ITS STUPID HARD WORK, I have devoted 6 months straight to clearing brush and burning, and cutting out dead trees and climbing trees to clean the lower dead limbs and I would fall into bed at night, and drag myself out so sore in the morning and start again and not everyone is going to do that and it doesn’t matter, I just hate seeing things destroyed by wildfires.
And this isn’t a rant rather sharing my life story.

Goat’s will save you all the hard graft of clearing out the undergrowth

Hi Jesse Just had a thought maybe you could share some seeds from your property with others who may not have easy access to woodlands. I feel sure many communities who have had high volumes of tree loss through fire, drought or storms these past few years would welcome the opportunity to replace natives trees in their communities.

Maybe, if I wasn’t morally opposed to goats Haha.
And we have lots of tree farms in our area.

Good news for those seeking to restore lost woodland. Maybe you could create a small Co-op with other farmers and turn a little profit on the side. Sell seed on Etsy some folk do that here in the UK. I saw some Giant Redwood seeds gathered locally are on sale over here. Thinking of placing an order.

Forest fires will stop now… https://www.nbc4i.com/news/local-news/ohio-man-accused-of-setting-seven-wildfires-in-california/

Not available in Europe. The thing is the UK is no longer part of the EU. I wish TV stations in the USA would come to realise this sooner rather than later.

That’s a bummer. It’s on couple of other news sites, it may not work for you too. :frowning:

Is there a headline I could maybe find on youtube

Archie, you can try this youtube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXkG8zjLm2I . Or you can search for ohio man forest fire.

I’ve often wondered if this might help resolve the dry conditions in California. If not this then pumping liquid CO2 or some other gas through a network of pipes close to the Santana Winds. Cooling the air should create rain drops. I know it’s probably a crazy idea but each time I hear of a big fire on the west coast this network of moisture catchers pops into my head, If you think it could work then run with it John you could end up being a billionaire. LOL

Billionaire?? haha. Even with having nothing much, I’m being watched. I’d rather remain just a simple man!

Btw, I’ve heard about season for everything, and NOT people for everything!

I caught one of those pyromaniacs when I was a recruit in the army. I was on duty in the accommodation block and my last task before heading to bed was to check the TV room and lock the the door. I was heading up the passage and another recruit who had been back trooped into our squad came out of the TV room heading in the opposite direction. When I entered the room an armchair was press up against the electric fire which was on full. If I had been a moment later that chair would have burst into flames. I reported the matter to the duty officer and that recruit was removed from our squad pending investigation. And placed in another barrack block where he was caught red handed starting another fire. It beggars belief what goes through the minds of these people.

Right @The_Mole so my crazy idea wasn’t so crazy after all. I really do wish they could find a solution to these fires. Here in the UK we have lost a lot of woodland due to Dutch Elm Disease caused by the fungus Ophiostoma novo-ulmi which is spread by the elm bark beetle.

Here in the UK The Queen launched an appeal back in 2015 for all the countries of the Commonwealth all 54 to begin a large scale project of planting tree.

Quote from the trust website

The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy (QCC), conceived by the Right Honourable Frank Field MP, was launched at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta, in 2015. The QCC is a unique network of forest conservation initiatives, which involves all 54 countries of the Commonwealth.

A unique opportunity for all 54 countries

The QCC presents a rare opportunity to unite the whole Commonwealth family and save one of the world’s most important natural habitats – forests. By creating a pan-Commonwealth network of forest conservation projects, the QCC will mark Her Majesty The Queen’s service to the Commonwealth while conserving indigenous forests for future generations.

So there is great work going on all around the world

China is greening the desert

Israel is turning the desert green.

But it’s going to be a long recovery for sure. But for every seed and seedling placed in the soil is the beginning of new life.

If we all did a little bit then we might just begin to turn the tide on global warming. Just imagine a handful of seeds cast on the ground is the birth of a new forest. It’s such a simple task…

Wow just this minute I learned that Russia is planning to plant a billion trees by 2030. Someone must have given them the nod that Archie was out banging his drum again. Check out the link below the photo

@The_Mole, went to the local zoo today… OK, with just one-off, I won’t attribute sabotage, mischief or other agenda to forest fires, but I think last year on one occasion also the fire started off at 7 separated places on the same day, if I’m not wrong, that raises flag. I’m just curious, a foot-step on a moon can be detected, Mars territory can be explored, is it too difficult to identify a forest smoke at the earliest appearing, that has to rise up to the sky, to contain it?? Or is it too costly?

Many forest fires are started un-internally by the fire service who carry out a controlled burn. Problem is all it takes is a small ember picked up on a breeze and falling outside the controlled burn area and before you know it the forest becomes an inferno. I wish they could come up with a better way of managing the undergrowth. I think goats would do a better job. I don’t blame the fire service, they do heroic work and they do excellent work trying to reduce fire. Carelessness by visitors I believe is the biggest threat to the forest. Neglected camp fires, BBQs and broken glass left behind. Lightening is also a major problem. I agree orbiting satellites could do a lot to identify and help reduce the spread of wildfires. With Google Earth you can identify big patches of litter but I guess it’s not so easy to create an auto alarm system across the world without some kind of artificial intelligence gathering that’s when it all become political as each country accuses the other of spying.

Fair point, Archie!

Yep @The_Mole I know there are may causes of forest fires and not limited to the list I posted earlier. I also know that your overhead power cables and power distribution boxes are one of the biggest causes of fire. Here in the UK most of our power cables are underground and therefore less prone to storm damage. There are some rural areas that have overhead roadside cables. Our Nation Grid is high voltage overhead powerlines. I think most of the outages are due to heavy icing in winter. Most of our fires occur on moorland when farmers burn the heather for sheep grazing. The fires get below ground and cause the dry peat to smoulder undetected for years
