A friend has a Gibson F5 mandolin he inherited from his father that he’s been trying to sell me. I haven’t seen it in person yet, but he sent some pictures and it looks great. One question I have is, why does this one only say Gibson and not The Gibson on the headstock?

In the early 30s they changed to plain “Gibson” script and didn’t change back until I believe the 80s or 90s when they went to trying to replicate the Loar signed F5s
