Does anyone know where to find custom pick guards? I’m wanting to get an oversized pick guard like the one in the picture below but I haven’t been able to find anyone that makes them. Also if anyone has played a guitar with a guard like this how much of a negative effect does it have on tone/volume? Thanks- Blake

Lester Flatt’s D28 had a huge guard on it. Yeah, I think it does affect it some, but probably not enough to overrule the cool factor if that floats your boat.
You probably can’t afford or don’t want to pay for authentic tortoise that big. I would call the folks at Tortoguard and see what they say: http://www.tortoguard.com/contact.html

I have no idea where to get a single piece that big. It would take two or three of the stewmac sheets to cover that much area.
I think it would affect the tone, so I wouldn’t do it to an instrument that is sonically excellent.
