Any of you guy’s planning to visit Australia should note don’t ask for chicken ask for chooks
Food - Popeye Chicken
I know what you are saying, but that is not my style. I took the info directly to the people who could affect change, and they dropped the ball… or refused to pick up the ball, I guess.
I am intrigued… explain please.
Nothing much to explain, I guess chooks is easier to say than chicken like barbie is easier to say than bar-b-que
Ahhh, I thought you were saying a chook was something better than a chicken.
I’m just making the observation that I’m quite surprised a “chicken” thread on a banjo forum has this much action. I guess chicken goes well with banjo! @BanjoBen this might simplify the food at banjo camp!
i Could eat luisiana syle crispy chicken everyday so… iwould agree, bbq, Chicken, and bluegrass go good together.
@Archie
we have pop-eyes her in Arizona my wife and I ate it once and it was not fit to feed to my dogs if that gives you any indication
I do not know what has changed with KFC either because every time we eat there I have to visit the porcelain throne for about 30 minuets so we quit KFC also the only good food in Arizona is Mexican food and the spicier the better
Too much information Don.
Maybe they should change their name to “Popeye’s Fried Squirrel” cuz that’s what it likes to me!
They just fried the whole thing!.. Tail and all!
Never had Popeye’s… Not sure I ever want to try it now after these posts!
Don’t forget the extra large glass of sweet tea!!!
I honestly don’t waste my time at any fast food chicken place. None of it really tastes like chicken. Last and only time I had Popeyes there was no chicken involved just a bunch of rancid tasting breading. Don’t get me wrong I love fried chicken but if it doesn’t pass over someone’s HOME kitchen counter then I’m really not interested, but if I was on a road trip and wanted some really bad I would go have to go with Chick-fil-a or Raising Cane’s. Only problem is both of these places lines wrap around the building twice no matter what time it is. That being said, I generally don’t get any.

lol
Yes you bet! Goodbye coke hello Sweet tea!
New Zealand too. Once met a fellow in AU who had that as his nickname. When used that way, it’s not a very complimentary term, but he was OK with it. He was the most foul-mouthed person I’ve ever met. Maybe that’s why he was OK with it in his case.
Australians use a lot of profanity in their everyday conversation. They don’t seem to look on it as a bad thing . Bit of a culture shock for visitors through.
I’ve experienced the same from some regions of the U.S. Like you (Archie) said, it is just kind of how some folks talk. As for one such friend of mine, he was very much that way when I met him. Ralphie from “A Christmas Story” had an appropriate quote about his dad: “My father worked in profanity the way other artists work in oils or clay. It was his true medium. A master.”
Since Popeye’s is a Louisiana company I should say yes but I’m loyal to Chick-Fil-A and Raising Canes (another Louisiana fast food place) for my chicken.
