So Guy’s it’s just been announced Popeye Chicken is to open a restaurant in the UK. How do they compare to KFC. The best fried chicken I’ve ever had is Red Rooster when I was in Australia back in the 90’s And before that roast chicken in Germany halbes hähnchen mit pomme frites. I quite like KFC’s but quality and quantity seems to have dropped in recent years.
Food - Popeye Chicken
meh
IMHO you are eating leftovers until you get a Chick Fil A or a Zaxbys. (Agree on KFC completely dropping the ball on quality)
It’s ok- the Popeye’s near us finally has real honey mustard which makes it better. It’s still probably inferior to the chicken fingers you would get at a BBQ restaurant.
we have popeyes here in Canada and i would say that for chicken sandwiches and stuff like that it is hands down the best i have ever had. i don’t know how ours would compare to the State though.
Never been, but apparently the ones down here have atrocious customer service, at least from the stories I’m told.
As the comments above suggest… it all depends. It is fast food. It is also a bit spicy. If you hit a good one (and I have been to quite a few), they make arguably the best fried chicken fingers I have had. They just fry really well. I also like their red beans and rice BUT it isn’t at all like the red beans and rice you get at a nice sit down cajun place (nor are they like the ones I make).
I was a big fan and got excited when they were opening one in a little town close by. Unfortunately, it is one of the worst run restaurants I have been to. Food quality was not the issue for the most part, but customer service was abhorrent. We timed it one time… we got in line there were only about 3 couples in front of us. It took 20 something minutes to get our food. AND then, they got multiple things wrong on our order. It is bad enough, that I have pretty much given up on them.
I hope yours is a good one. If it is, I suspect you will enjoy it.
Every business has a bad apple. Always complain when you receive poor customer service. The the company CEO will soon root out the offenders
Must have weird chickens in the US over here chickens have wings but no fingers.
And to further expand… on the 20 something minutes… this is not a cook to order restaurant. The food is already cooked and in yummy piles. As an order comes in, they simply assemble the order. A normal time at a similar restaurant (Chicken Express) takes about a minute per order for assembly with one person working order assembly. I saw your note to MM. I contacted both the owners and corporate. I did give them time to get sorted, but I gave up after about 3 months.
Yes, chicken fingers from all over the world are stolen and hoarded by the State’s chicken finger black market.
They will act when profits fall or complaints rise. Share your experience of social media.
Any of you guy’s planning to visit Australia should note don’t ask for chicken ask for chooks
I know what you are saying, but that is not my style. I took the info directly to the people who could affect change, and they dropped the ball… or refused to pick up the ball, I guess.
I am intrigued… explain please.
Nothing much to explain, I guess chooks is easier to say than chicken like barbie is easier to say than bar-b-que
Ahhh, I thought you were saying a chook was something better than a chicken.
I’m just making the observation that I’m quite surprised a “chicken” thread on a banjo forum has this much action. I guess chicken goes well with banjo! @BanjoBen this might simplify the food at banjo camp!
i Could eat luisiana syle crispy chicken everyday so… iwould agree, bbq, Chicken, and bluegrass go good together.
@Archie
we have pop-eyes her in Arizona my wife and I ate it once and it was not fit to feed to my dogs if that gives you any indication
I do not know what has changed with KFC either because every time we eat there I have to visit the porcelain throne for about 30 minuets so we quit KFC also the only good food in Arizona is Mexican food and the spicier the better
Too much information Don.
