Failure or Win?

Good morning Ben,
The Kilgore Camp is coming up. On the surface, it seems like a good place to visit, but you’ll likely be real busy. Sitting in the boat trolling for King Salmon (weather permitting) would likely give us more time to sort out all the problems of the world.
Play fast and take lots of chances.

Is this a new commandment or new amendment - “Thou shall NOT have ego!”??!! OK let it be decided over coffee table or in a boat tide!

Let me lay the foundation, as it can be misunderstood otherwise!

In context…

Joseph’s brothers to Joseph - Genesis 37:19, … Behold, this dreamer (big ego) cometh.
Mordecai before Haman - But Mordecai (the big ego) bowed not, nor did him (Haman) reverence.
David’s brother to David - I Samuel 17:28. …I know thy (the big ego’s) pride…
High priest servent to Jesus - John 18:22 …Answerest thou (the big ego) the high priest so?

So, the biblical definition of pride (or ego if it also meant the same) rules out above such things.
It only includes things that exalt before the (correct interpretation of) word of God, according to I Timothy 6:3,4.
To simply put, ignoring or willfully disobeying the word of God is pride (or ego)!

I Peter 5:5 does not contradict the above! It only requires compliance in office (role based and not age based) level and in member (brotherly relationship) level. It does NOT expect you to be manipulatable by others!

And when you are in compliance and when God works on your behalf, go ahead and brag from the rooftops to the glory of the kingdom of God!

Psalm 34:2
2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble (only the humble!!) shall hear thereof, and be glad.

Amen

I’ve chosen the mindset that if I felt the path was one Jesus wanted me to walk then whatever the outcome is I’ll celebrate the victory of my obedience. There have been paths I’ve taken that I never consulted God about. From a worldly view they ended up being successful. I thank the Lord that He still gave me spiritual goodness on those paths. It is probably on those paths I’ve learned the most but they have been the most painful lessons.
