Extended jam tracks

Something I’ve started doing lately is creating extended, 10 minute backing tracks for the songs I’m learning so I can put them on my phone and practice while I’m on the road. I just pop in some headphones and get to it. 10 minutes is a lot better than the 1 or 2 minutes on most of the backing tracks.

Anyway, Ben said I could ask if anyone here could use a copy. Here’s what I have so far:

Bill Cheatham
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
Wabash Cannonball
Jazzy Joy to the World
Blackberry Blossom
Banjo Utility Rolls lesson
I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
Battle Hymn of the Republic
Salt Creek
Red Haired Boy
Old Joe Clark
Eigth of January

If you’d like a copy of any of these, shoot me your email address in a PM (so web bots won’t get your email address by crawling this page) and I’ll send you which ever ones you want.

I realized these files were too big for emailing, so I’ve put them on an online server. Download all you want. To download, find the MP3 link under the Facebook, Twitter and other social media links where it says " Download as MP3"

This is a great help, but I will definitely need a slowdowner app now.

You can download Audacity on your pc for free. Then use its Tempo tool to change the speed to anything you like and save them off as new files to put on your mobile device.

That’s nice of you to share.

Dude… that’s like two hours! It reminds me of when I was in a rock cover band in high school. We put together groups of songs that worked out to about 30 minutes for a “set.” Early on, we were playing a party that went longer than we had planned. We went through our few sets we had and were out of material. On the fly we came up with the “purple set”: Purple Haze and Purple Rain for about 15 minutes each. It became a keeper.

Edited to add 2 speeds of Man of Constant Sorrow and John Henry. I’m really digging this song! It feels a lot like the recent Backup Banjo Utility Rolls lesson that I loved so much. https://banjobenclark.com/lessons/backup-banjo-utility-rolls-banjo-intermediate

Has anyone here ever used Strum Machine? I use it constantly when practicing. It was made by Luke Abbot from Toneway. You can choose a song with guitar/Mando/upright bass track from his extensive list or very easily add your own. Easy to choose any song in any key at any speed as well as gradual automatic tempo increase. Costs a few bucks a month but really worth it.
