Experimental Banjos

In the last 30 years , or more, I have spent more time tinkering with, assembling, building,
and experimenting with banjos than I’ve spent learning to play.

What started with just wanting to play what I was listening to ended up a bit different.
I have enjoyed the journey.
In the back of Earl’s book, it says, “build a decorative banjo”.
So, how cool would that be.
Didn’t have the money to buy a good one, but I could buy some parts. And I had some wood.
That was the start. The first neck. Lots of attempts, lots of rework.
Right from the start, I did not try to make an exact copy of a Mastertone, as others have done.
Still have not. That has been done, and the “True Tone” might be one of the best.

My goal here is share some stories and pictures of some of the results with people that
might have an interest in hearing them.

Stories, pics, and some sound links to be added when I can.
