I love hearing stories like this, the history and lineage of these treasures and how it all ties the bluegrass family together. When I got my Stelling Whitestar, Geoff put a custom Master’s Cross truss rod cover on it for me. That was a special surprise.

Here’s a picture from about 1986 at my house in Wolfskin near Athens, GA. That’s Jim’s Stelling center left and my right arm in the foreground playing bass. The young man on the right is Andy Carlson with his grandfather Earl Murphy on fiddle. Great memories !!

Great times indeed. I haven’t had the pleasure of picking with Jim Pankey very much but I played a lot with Andy and Earl.
