Great lesson! Can’t wait to finish watching! Will there be a mandolin and/ banjo lesson for this as well? (Out of curiosity)
When I saw this lesson I was so excited looking to see your girls perform with you in church @BanjoBen Maybe you have plans to post a video of the service?
Thank you for this lesson Ben. I pastor a small country church, and at times find myself without a worship leader for Sunday morning. You answered many of the questions I had, and thoroughly presented a way to prepare for that opportunity when it arises.
Thanks so much for this s worship video. I will have to check your other ones. This is very timely for me. I am about to attempt to get a degree in worship music. I will see how that goes. I am 69 and anything I can use to propel me forward is great.
This is so great as is your entire site. Not quite a member yet but hope to be this next week. Just started playing banjo and want to learn to play worship music so
for me, this is fantastic! Thank you!
Hi Ben. I have been a long time member and loved these videos as you took us through your process. I really enjoyed your comments on the spiritual as well as the technical aspects of leading worship. I was connecting with so much of what you were saying and appreciate you expressing the hope and joy we can have as we know Jesus in a personal way.
As someone born and bred in the Church of the Nazarene, ‘My Savior’s Love’ was pretty much our anthem.
Thanks so much for this lesson!! So helpful. Appreciated your comments toward the end regarding the heart of worship. I needed the reminder that the pressure is off of us. We are just vessels for His use! Also, I have to say, I laughed so hard at your clip and Ellie’s glissando. She was feeling it and knew what the moment needed musically!
Praise the lord I am so glad that you are doing the old hymns I have been looking every we’re to find simple guitar hymns to play thank you for this I have been a member for years thank you for all you do and preaching the word I’m pastor love to hear you spreading the word love brother
Thanks so much for this lesson! It helped to learn the thinking behind decisions on what to play when. Thanks also for the comments regarding faith & Christianity. I am a relatively new Christian and still struggle sometimes with just who Jesus is. And sometimes it’s the brief comments that are so helpful. So glad I listened to this lesson. Thanks!
Same here, Brent! I don’t know why this feels like an “inside joke,” but it kinda does. But we certainly don’t have any special claim to Jesus, do we? I hope you enjoyed Ben’s discussion as much as I did. Very practical!
Ben, I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion! Thank you for being so matter-of-fact about your faith. I know it is who you are, and you have a gift for sharing that without pretense. Someone else mentioned a video of the service. That would be a treat! And I’d probably come visit if I knew y’all were doing this again some Sunday.
Blessings, friend!
Thank y’all! Unfortunately the video and sound was not quality, and something that could be improved at our church. The cam angle never showed Ellie. I do wish it would improve, however my focus is on those who are in attendance. Maybe I can help them with the AV quality in the future.
I thought it would have been… “I Stand Amazed in the Presence”
@Karl I did enjoy it. One point for me, I had not heard the ‘expository preaching’ desriptor until recently, and here Ben uses the phrase. That type of teaching is my preference as well. As far as song choices go, if you want to create a sea of waiving white hankies, follow up My Saviors Love with Holiness Unto the Lord.
