Loved this lesson! I have a pretty good feel for timing but when it comes to actually sitting down and counting out the beats, that becomes my biggest nemesis when playing. Like chewing gum and walking, I guess. I have little problems playing in time and on beat with a metronome because all I have to do is listen. But when I try to count, I stumble. I guess I just need to practice these routines more.
Again, great lesson with a lot of helpful insights. The clapping exercises helped. However, if you have other suggestions, I would appreciate the feedback!
Thanks In Advance!
When doing boom Chuck rhythm at 80 is boom only on 1 and 3 and Chucks on 2 and 4 or booms on 1 2 3 4 and Chuck and the add? Trying to loop some rhythm for flat picking and banjo.
Great question @jeremy_denhof. Technically if you are actually playing at 80 bpm, then the booms are on the 1 & 3 with chucks on 2 & 4. If you play booms on each click, you’re actually playing at 160 bpm with the metronome representing half notes.
What happens if you clap really really hard at a rapid frequency.
It hertz!
I play Jesu joy of Man’s desiring from Hal Leonard on guitar. It is all triplets. I use it when I’m warming up.
