This strum pattern: base-down up, base-up down up works well in “Under the Double Eagle” measure 16. It’s a good substitute for that measure for speed building.
Or the Dukes of Hazzard.
This works with Neil Young’s song Powderfinger too.

You want to keep the downstrums on the downbeats for sure, perhaps that answers your question?
